- Cultivate qualities of compassion and gratitude for yourself and others
- Integrate basic mindfulness skills into your daily life
How mindfulness can help
This 8-week mindfulness-based group programme is not a quick fix, but a structured and experiential mental training. It follows the internationally recognised Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) curriculum as originally developed by Jon Kabat-Zinn at the University of Massachusetts Medical School. The programme is grounded in decades of scientific research and clinical practice. Participants receive a comprehensive handbook and guided audio downloads to support their learning and home practice throughout the course.
Trauma-sensitive approach
The course is taught in a trauma-sensitive and supportive way. Practices are offered with clear guidance, choice, and respect for individual boundaries. Participants are encouraged to listen to their bodies, adapt practices as needed, and take care of themselves throughout the programme.
Course benefits
Scientific research shows that mindfulness practice can lead to improvements such as:
- Better coping with stressful situations
- Greater energy and enthusiasm for life
- More inner calm and emotional balance
- Improved sleep quality
- Stronger sense of well-being and work-life balance

The location - a haven of peace
This course is held at the Institute of Neurocognitivism, a beautifully restored Brussels townhouse in the heart of Etterbeek. The spacious venue includes a peaceful garden with a pond, where we can practice outdoors when the weather allows. Easily accessible via metro (Merode or Montgomery).
The full day of mindfulness practice
As part of the internationally recognised MBSR curriculum, the course includes one longer mindfulness practice day. This session brings together the practices introduced during the weekly evenings — such as sitting meditation, mindful movement, and walking meditation — and offers space to practise with more continuity and depth.
The day is experiential and supportive rather than demanding: participants are encouraged to listen to their bodies and take care of their own needs throughout. Many people find that this extended practice helps consolidate learning, deepen understanding, and strengthen their ability to bring mindfulness into everyday life. All practices are guided, and participants are invited to adapt postures and take breaks as needed.

The teachers and approach were the right balance of providing a conceptual understanding, hands-on practice, personal and peer reflections and dialogue to understand and integrate what we learnt into who we are and what we do. The impact has been immediate and keeps on going - it is an investment that positively affects the foundations of self and holistic wellbeing!".

Health & Well-being Guidelines - In-person
While meditation and well-being courses, workshops and other in-person events can be very nourishing; they can demand some stability of psychological health and can be triggering for some people.
Have you experienced significant trauma or psychiatric illness, or are your currently struggling with your mental health such as with anxiety, depression, or burnout? If so, it's important for you and the mindfulness trainer to discuss your specific situation as they might not be able to give you the kind of individual psychological care and support you need right now.
If you are currently under the care of a mental health professional, please discuss your attendance with them. You should be in a relatively stable period of mental well-being and have adequate psychological resilience.
Please fill in the questions in the registration form as open and honestly as possible to give us an idea of your current situation. The teacher of the event may reach out to you for more information.
We also ask that if you are feeling ill to consider not attending the class, for the health and safety of the trainer and others in the group. Listening to your body and taking rest can also be an important act of self-care.
