Lorinda Brinton
Certified Mindfulness and Yoga Teacher

My path in wellness and well-being began more than 20 years ago, with a deep interest and curiosity toward self-awareness and ongoing self-development. This has grown over the years beyond an interest into a personal commitment towards a life based on intention.

Growing up and living most of my life in western Canada and close to the Rocky Mountains, I have deep love of nature. Since establishing myself in Belgium in 2016, I keep this feeling close to my heart and enjoy sharing this connection with others.

I completed my university training in (International) Development Studies, Communication and Culture in Canada. This was followed by 20+ years working in communications and project management in corporate, government and non-profit sectors, including six years most recently working on Euro-Brussels/European Union institution public outreach activities.

My yoga and meditation practice as well as attendance at well-being retreats became essential for me in order to re-balance and re-focus a stressful working life. In 2018 I participated in a one-week summer retreat at the wonderful Plum Village, a beautiful monastic community of former Zen Master Thich Nhat Hanh. This experience and Thich Nhat Hanh’s many teachings have brought new gifts that continue to feed me.

I completed the mindfulness teacher training offered through Brussels Mindfulness (based on the Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction technique, 2022), and have also participated in the 2-day teacher training programme Mindfulness Frame by Frame with Professor Emeritus Mark Williams for mindfulness trainers (Leuven, Belgium, June 2022).

As a 200-hr certified yoga teacher (2017, Ashtanga Vinyasa, teachers Marc Pouw and Dace Ošleja, Brussels Yoga Loft), I am an internationally accredited member of Yoga Alliance. Having had some of my own health challenges, I encourage engagement and sensitivity to injuries and other possible trauma in all of my sessions. There is room for all levels of experience!

I also meet with individuals and facilitate organisation/company trainings on a variety of themes.

You never know what can change your life. Sometimes it's the small things, sometimes it's the big things, or both! I have been and continue to be inspired by others and believe there is a lot to be gained from shared experience. This is my motivation for doing what I do and for trying to live in a balanced, connected and mindful way.

I enjoy finding simple and personally meaningful ways to share basic principles of well-being and mindfulness to those who are looking for change. My personal experience is that learning to work with our breath and practicing self-awareness is a powerful way for most of us to connect.

I deliver sessions in English, with basic language abilities in Dutch and French.
