Mindful Family Day: Being present for your children – and for yourself.
Families are usually very busy: school, homework, sports activities, organizing family life, etc. What about taking a break together, as a family, and enjoy some mindful and quality time together?
Of course you can also come on your own, for example if your children are not yet old enough or if you would rather want to learn and practice mindfulness skills while also enjoying a day with mindfulness. Please know, however, that we will have quite a few interactive games for children and parents. Don't hesitate to contact us (firstname.lastname@example.org) for any questions.
Together we will experience what it means to be connected as a family. We will practice mindfulness together and make a mindful walk in the beautiful garden of the location.
This will be a day to unwind, to resource yourself together as a family, to learn techniques on how to stay connected to yourself and to each other and how to relax - and most of all how to experience the joy that is inherent in each moment and that is just a breath away.
What to expect during this day
- Mindfulness exercises, such as breathing exercises and short sitting meditation.
- Mindfulness games and play, for example mindful eating, role play, focus exercise, working with emotions.
- Creative animation.
- Ability to exchange with likeminded people.
We will spend almost the whole day together, parents and children. There will be a period of about one hour where the parents will enjoy a nourishing meditation and some sharing and teaching, whereas the children have some creative activity.
Programme of the day:
10.00-10.45: introduction, short landing meditation, some movement and yoga
10.45-11.30: mindfulness games - getting to know each other, perception and focus
11.30-12.00: mindful eating exercise
12.00-12.45: both groups separated - parents: nourishing meditation and sharing - children: creative activity
12.45-14.30: lunch and walk
14.30-14.45: body scan
14.45-15.15: creative activity (all together)
15.15-15.30: tea break
15.30-16.10: role play, relationships
16.10-16.30: end round, sharing, departure
This is an indicative programme. Timings and content can change throughout the day.

Languages and age groups
The Mindful Family Day will be in English (main language) and French (if needed for the children). It is sufficient if the children have basic knowledge of one of these languages.
The workshop is suitable for children age 6-12.
There is space for maximum 10 children and 20 adults.
The event takes place in “Chant d'Oiseau”, a beautiful and convenient location, easy to reach with public transport.
Berenice Boxler is a mindfulness trainer at the Brussels Mindfulness Institute with a specialisation in mindful parenting. She has also two children, aged 3 and 5.
Sophie Donnay will guide the children in a mindfulness and animation programme. Sophie is a clinical and educational psychologist, specialised in disability, children and adolescents. She is also formed in art-therapy. She has 3 teenage children.
For the Mindful Family Day, with handouts, vegetarian lunch and coffee breaks included:
