Burnout Prevention – How to avoid overwhelm through realistic and consistent self-care

Online, 2-part workshop, on November 9th & 16th, 2022, from 19.30 - 21.30

with senior mindfulness teacher Berenice Boxler

If you are like most people, you regularly feel exhausted from all the things you must do and plan. You care for children, partners, friends, or family members and try to do your work as best as possible. You need to remember, manage, and organize all day long, and usually there is not much time or energy left at the end of the day for leisure or nourishing activities. And if you try to fit in some space for yourself, you often need to carve out precious time, or you are dependent on the willingness and time of other people to step in for you.

If we do not take care of our own energy and well-being tanks, we will sooner or later burn-out. This can happen in a very physical way or emotionally when we must carry the emotional burden of too many people. “We cannot give on running empty”, says Bréné Brown. Or, if you are more into technical language: We cannot drive (someone) somewhere when the tank is empty. We need to refuel before we run out of gas, again and again.

Self-care is difficult. However: Real self-care is not about getting a massage or taking a day off and relax. This course aims to help you find the way to authentic, inner self-care to prevent you from depleting yourself and burning out. Inner self-care is not dependant on other people or on “ideal” outside conditions. Inner self-care comes from within you and is for you, therefore it is truly helpful and practical in everyday life, no matter your life or work conditions.

In this 2-part workshop you will find out what you really need in your life (needs vs. strategies) and what you really need in a particular moment (what is necessary right now?). These are two different paths to avoid overwhelm in the short and in the long term – true burn-out prevention. We will also take time to explore the obstacles and difficulties to consistent self-care.

For whom?

For whom?

This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as for practitioners of mindfulness. If you are interested in levelling up your own well-being and prioritizing care and resources for yourself – which, by the way, is the greatest gift you can give to other people – then you are very welcome to join this interactive and nourishing workshop. We will evaluate, reflect, meditate, discuss, and learn from each other.

In this workshop you will learn to:

  • Understand the importance of real self-care and how it is anything but selfish
  • Discover what your needs are to feel nourished and strong and capable to do what you have to do and to prevent burning out
  • Practice identifying what you need right now to refuel your energy tanks
  • Identify your obstacles to self-care and learn to reframe your inner commentary
  • Feel more connected to yourself and your needs
  • Grow more confident in protecting your needs in everyday life

  • Guided meditations and reflections
  • Teaching on the brain and its habits to keep us going (even when the body needs a pause)
