The sessions will be hosted via Zoom, an easy-to-use tool for online meetings which allows interactivity. It will be just like a face-to-face class in which you can ask questions, share and interact. 

Positive Neuroplasticity Training: How to get a happy brain

In these challenging times, many of us are dealing with regular negative thoughts and feelings. It is easy to get sucked in by the negative news and be overwhelmed by anxiety and helplessness. But it does not need to be that way. As the challenges rise we need to focus on building up inner resources that can help us feel peaceful and content in the midst of the chaos. 

Many people think that their happiness depends on external factors. money, professional success, love, even the weather... But what if you could learn to be happy independent of what life throws at you? Would it not be wonderful to know how to restore your happiness when something unwanted happens and to enjoy the good things more fully? In this course you will learn tools and practices that can bring more joy, peace and fulfilment to your life.

Neuroscientist Dr Rick Hanson has developed a method to transform ordinary day-to-day experiences into inner strengths, such as resilience, self-confidence, compassion, joy and a feeling of being loved. The mindful internalisation of such psychological resources can help us deal with feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, loss and shame, and support our well-being, emotional healing and resilience.

The brain is continually remodelling itself as we learn from our experiences. When we repeatedly stimulate a circuit in our brain, we strengthen it. Because our brains are like Velcro for the bad and Teflon for the good, frustration, worry and stress are quickly wired into your nervous system.

To beat this negativity bias, we will teach you a powerful method - using the science of positive neuroplasticity - for turning everyday experiences into lasting inner strengths including mindfulness, self-compassion and confidence, for truly resilient well-being.

In this course we will show you practical tools to transform ordinary day-to-day experiences into inner strengths, such as resilience, self-confidence, compassion, joy and a feeling of being loved. The mindful internalisation of such psychological resources can help us deal with feelings of anxiety, depression, anger, addiction, loss, and shame, and support well-being, emotional healing, and resilience.

Humans needs are categorized into 3 different needs: Safety, satisfaction and connection. Through experiencing and practicing we can learn internalize resources that satisfy the needs in theses three areas and increasingly grow an internal core of strength. 

The course will combine basic information about the relevant functions of the brain with practical exercises and specific meditations. It is recommended for everyone would like to deepen a sense of peace, joy, and love. It builds on the idea that the mind is like a garden which needs to be maintained and cultivated, because if it is left to itself it will develop some unhelpful thinking patterns. With mindfulness we can learn to see clearly what is there and learn to practice equanimity, a sense of being at peace with how things are right now. We can further train and change our brain for the better through positive neuroplasticity which will in turn have an effect on our mind and thus create an upwards spiral.

Rick Hanson, Ph.D., a psychologist and expert in modern neuroscience and best-seeling author has developed a powerful method called HEAL to internalize inner strengths and in that sense to "hardwire happiness". The course will take you step by step through this method by applying it to the different needs and thereby tapping into an inreasing sense of peace, contentment and love. 

 

For whom?

For everyone who is interested in personal growth or wants to develop resilience and decrease negative thinking. This course builds on elements of mindfulness and takes it further by teaching methods that can help to change your brain for the better. It is not required to have followed a mindfulness course.

  • Guided meditations based on the teaching of positive neuroplasticity.
  • Teaching based on the method by Rick Hanson, geared towards application in simple steps.
  • Practical exercises and sharing.
  • A small group of maximum 16 people.
  • The teaching will be in English.
  • An easy to use online meeting tool (zoom) allowing for interactivity and sharing where you can log in from the comfort of your own home.
  • If you cannot join a session, you can listen to the recording afterwards or you can join the session in the next online course.

The Teacher

Beate Trück

Beate is an experienced mindfulness teacher and founder of Brussesl Mindfulness. She has been trained and certified as a MBSR-teacher by Arbor-Seminare in Germany, and has given many workshops, courses and retreats to an international audience over the past years. She has also been trained on positive neuropsychology and HEAL by Rick Hanson from 2015 to 2018 and is since then authorisied to teach his method.
