A restorative summer weekend of mindful cooking, eating and meditation
Friday 10 to Sunday 12 July 2026
Starts on Friday at 14.00
Ends on Sunday at 16.30
At the beautiful retreat center "Maison du Chemin des Roches" in Dongelberg.
Carpooling will be organised shortly before the event.
Join us for a deeply nourishing and renewing weekend in the beautiful countryside of Wallonia. This retreat offers a gentle pause from the fast pace of daily life — a space to slow down, reconnect with your body and senses, and rediscover what feels grounding and meaningful.
Set in the peaceful countryside of Wallonia, the weekend weaves together mindfulness meditation, gentle movement, time in nature, and an ongoing exploration of mindful cooking and eating. Rather than being limited to a few standalone sessions, awareness around food, nourishment and presence is integrated throughout the entire retreat.
The retreat is offered in a secular, inclusive and non-dogmatic framework and is open to people of all backgrounds and beliefs.
A weekend to reconnect with yourself
What you’ll experience
Throughout the weekend, mindfulness is not confined to the meditation cushion. It is woven into everything we do:
- guided sitting, walking, and body-based meditations
- gentle yoga and mindful movement
- time in nature and moments of silence
- shared meals eaten with awareness
- hands-on cooking workshops using seasonal, organic ingredients
Each day includes a long, experiential cooking workshop and several shorter teaching moments, guided by experiential cook Viannou Coëme, where cooking becomes a sensory, collaborative, and reflective practice rather than a task.
On Saturday, you also have the opportunity to book an Ayurvedic massage with Katrien Maes at an additional cost of €80 — a perfect way to deepen your relaxation, reconnect with your body, and support the integration of the retreat experience.
Cuisine vivante — nourishment with awareness
Mindful cooking and eating form the heart of this retreat.
Participants take part in three extended hands-on cooking workshops, one each day, guided by experiential cook Viannou Coëme. These longer workshops are complemented by mini-teachings, reflections and practical invitations offered naturally throughout the retreat — during meal preparation, shared meals, and pauses between practices.
The approach draws on cuisine vivante: preparing food that is fresh, seasonal, local and organic, with a focus on nourishment, flavour and sensory engagement. The cooking is predominantly plant-based, rooted in simplicity, attention and respect for the rhythms of nature.
Rather than prescribing rules or dietary ideals, the retreat invites curiosity, listening and personal discovery — allowing each person to explore what truly nourishes them.
Mindful eating – lived, not taught
Mindful eating is presented as a lived experience, not a technique, belief or ideology.
Through shared preparation and meals, brief reflections and invitations to notice, you are supported in observing your relationship with food — physically, emotionally and habitually. Small, practical teachings are offered throughout the weekend to support awareness of taste, hunger, satisfaction and the influence of attention and distraction.
There is no “right” way to eat here and no expectation to change your diet beyond what feels supportive for you. The emphasis is on awareness, kindness and choice.
Silence, simplicity & digital pause
Silence, simplicity, and a gentle digital pause are consciously woven into this retreat as supportive conditions for coming back to what is essential. By reducing external stimulation — conversation, information, screens — space naturally opens to sense more clearly what is here: the body, the breath, the senses, and the quiet movements of the mind and heart. Silence is not used as an achievement or withdrawal, but as a nourishing container that allows settling, listening, and inner clarity to emerge in its own time. In this simplicity, many participants rediscover a felt sense of presence, ease, and inner peace that can continue to inform daily life long after the retreat.

Health & Well-being Guidelines - Retreats
Important information on your mental well-being and silent retreats
While meditation retreats can be very nourishing; they do require sustained meditation practice throughout your time there. This also demands some stability of psychological health and can be triggering for some people.
Have you experienced significant trauma or psychiatric illness, or are your currently struggling with your mental health such as with anxiety, depression, or burnout? If so, a retreat might not be the best option for you at the moment. The teacher might not be able to give you the kind of individual psychological care and support you need right now.
If you are currently under the care of a mental health professional, please discuss your attendance with them. You should be in a relatively stable period of mental well-being and have adequate psychological resilience.
Please fill in the questions in the registration form as open and honestly as possible, this will give us an idea of your current situation. The teacher of the retreat may reach out to you for more information
